The devourer or ammut is the animal who is actually linked with the goddess Tawaret because they was said to have the same appearance. They said that she stood by a lake of fire where the hearts would be thrown instead of her eating them. Other people have thought that with the lion body and the guardian of the lake of fire she is like the goddess Sekhmet.
